A traditional Greek pie

Women in Skopelos, Greece, bake this pie on the 26th of August every year, on the eve of Saint Fanourios’ name day. They then bring their pies to the church of Saint Fanourios where the priest blesses them in a ceremony. After Mass the pies are shared between the congregation.

  • ¾ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup brandy
  • ½ cup raisins (or crushed walnuts)

  2. Grease a pan with olive oil and dust with a little sugar and flour.
  3. Pour the mixture into the greased pan.
  4. Bake in medium oven for about an hour.
  5. Enjoy!
